New Law Increases Penalty for Falling Behind on Child Support

A new Texas family code that went into effect on September 1st, 2016 could mean big trouble for parents who fall behind on paying child support payments. The new code, which falls under Texas Family Code chapter 232, gives the state attorney general's child support division the power to put a vehicle registration hold on parents required to pay child support if they do not make the necessary payments within 180 days.

Houston Man Accused of Killing Eight People

Authorities are trying to understand what led to the murder of six children and two adults earlier in July. David R. Conley is being held without bail after police officers discovered him at the scene last Saturday night. The officers were in the neighborhood performing a routine welfare check, but realized Conley was inside and wanted for aggravated assault. Once a child's body was seen through the window, police entered and Conley began firing his weapon. A unit similar to a SWAT team was called as well as hostage negotiators which led to the successful arrest over an hour later.

This last option seems to have become more popular over the course of the last year with about 25% more people turned away after presenting fake or stolen documents, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security.
