How does a closed adoption differ from an open adoption?

Growing your family through adoption is a wonderful thing to do. Adoption brings together parents who want a child with a child in need of a family. Of course, an adopted child in Texas still has biological parents, in addition to their adoptive parents. Therefore, decisions will need to be made about how much contact, if any, there will be between the adoptive child and his or her biological parents.

Who Gets the House in a Divorce

When you decide to divorce, one of the most difficult decisions that you and your spouse will have to make is what happens to the family home. What happens if both spouses are too emotionally attached to let go of the home? What if the expenses of maintaining the home are simply too much for a single parent? Couples should work together to come to a decision that makes sense for both parties, emotionally and financially.

Here's a new way to feel better about being a single parent

To many divorced parents, it can seem as if society is conspiring to ignore you, if not disapprove of you. Single moms are often depicted as poverty-stricken or welfare-dependent. Single dads get painted as desperate or incompetent. You know better; most divorced parents are ordinary, decent people who are doing their best in the face of long odds.

Baby boomer divorce: What to expect

Perhaps your marriage has been deteriorating for years, or maybe one of you has changed and you are no longer compatible as a couple.

Since you have an estate plan already, you probably know that having one is a good idea for anyone with a spouse, children or other people depending on them. If you own a home, have a job that provides life insurance, or receive income from a structured settlement, you need one.

January Is a Busy Month for Divorce
