Proposed Senate Bill Bad News for Gay Couples
The Georgia Senate has proposed a bill that would allow certain groups and organizations to turn away gay couples. State Senator Greg Kirk sponsored Senate Bill 284, which would override any anti-discrimination requirements that the government already put in place. Senators met on Monday to review the terms, and they agreed that there were no issues with the bill. Kirk explained that the purpose of the bill is to protect faith-based groups who do not agree with gay marriage. He stated that there are some accreditation issues with organizations such as adoption agencies.
