According to news from AL.com, a minister in Alabama attempted to marry a same-sex couple in Prattville. Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Alabama, which led Anne Susan DiPrizio to plead guilty to charges from the event on February 10th of this year. She was charged with “misdemeanor disorderly conduct” last Monday.
The minister was originally sentenced to spend 30 days in the Metro jail, but it was changed to six months of unsupervised probation, as reported by the Montgomery Advertiser. DiPrizio offered to hold the ceremony in the probate office which, up until the day before, had been held by Judge Al Booth. DiPrizio will have to pay a $250 fine as well as court costs.
