The first same-sex divorce has been granted in El Paso, Texas as of June 29 this year. Two women moved from New Hampshire to Texas and were required to wait six months in order to obtain Texas residency before filing for divorce. Though the couple got married in a state that recognized same-sex marriage, they weren’t able to get a divorce in Texas until the Supreme Court decision past three days before their court date. Judge Mike Herrera of the 383rd District Court granted the divorce. Two men who were married last year, may be next to get their divorce granted in El Paso County once mediation is completed.
