Father Asks for Reverse Adoption Order

Antonio Martini of Kansas has asked the Arkansas Supreme Court to reverse an adoption decision made in June 2014. Martini was married in 2006 and had two children with his then-wife, Renita Price. After the couple separated in 2009, Martini got arrested for domestic violence and his wife took the children to Arkansas. A few years later, Price remarried and her new husband petitioned to get custody of the children which he received. Martini was given a “no contact” order by the state, cutting off communication to his wife and children. The father’s attorney stated that Martini did not contact the family for this reason and for fear that violating his probation would result in a two-year prison term. However, a majority ruled in favor of the new father to keep custody of the children.
